Who remembers pea shooters or spud guns,they could be lethal in the right hands.

Oh yes both of those, Pea Shooters were ok if you didn't inhale.

We both were but for different reasons.

I loved that one.
We didn't have chalk though, there was always a lot of chalk like lumps lying around, probably because it was a new estate. Gobs of plaster, lime, bits of plasterboard, lumps of sandstone, etc.

I remember it being the name of a game, but not the game.

Does anyone remember taping so many bangers together that when they went off they could blow a brick out of the wall of a public convenience?

In our junior school, it was a game the Headmaster allowed us to play on the last day of term / half term. It was on a tarmac school yard. I'm sure it wouldn't be allowed these days because of health and safety!

He was also my Father! :-)

We sometimes played bulldog,iv'e still two chipped teeth to prove it,

Last summer me and my grandson, 8 years old was in our garden,I was showing him how to play hopscotch,he had never even heard of it, the teachers at school wouldn't let him play it in the playground. Health and safety.

That's ridiculous especially as it's excercise.
