Good morning all, yes it's still bright and sunny at the moment.

morning all

had to make that dreadful decision this morning that every pet owner has to do. had to take the dog to the vet to be put to sleep, even though you know you have made the right decision it is still hard

the worst bit is now, im on the lap top and still feel i can hear him behind me. i hope he s gone to a better place.

tx sb

when you go to the vets with your pet when they are young and just having a check up or vaccination etc, you always see other people in that situation and then it becomes your turn. perry had a good life, he ws a very small yorkshire terrier with all the attitude that went with it. he belonged to the other halfs mother and when she went into a home he took him on. he become blind about two years ago but managed.

it was the right decision. but i have just been to get fish and chips and brining them back into the house without him scrounging for a bit of fish was awful. still we will be taking all the bedding etc to one of the rescue centres this week end.

Its always a hard decision to make and being a family that is always surrounded by pets it is one we have had to make many times. My wife always leaves it to me to make the final decision, but always insists on being there at the end. Now that is something I cannot do, and I wait outside perhaps it makes the wife feel better knowing that she is not the one who has said yes or no, but I am glad to do it both for the animal and the wife.

hi steph so sorry to hear that you have lost your dog...i think most of us have had to make that very difficult decision to say goodbye to a much loved pet and part of the family....ive still got 5 very much loved cats and have lost many in the past but i try to console myself by thinking that the ones we have lost could have had such a very sad life..maybe roaming the streets scrounging for food in all weathers or being ill treated by their owners...instead we give them a warm home..plenty of food and most important of all our love...

tx everyone, i dont feel too bad now, as i know it was the right decision and he was looked after well and 16 is a good age. he went very quickly even before the vet had time to take the needle out, i think he was half way there.

the worst things are such as, i had fish and chips for my lunch and it was so strange not to have him begging for some fish and the house is quiet. you can almost hear him scrambling up behind you.

i hope some one takes care of me when i get that age.

any suggestions of good rescue centres where i can take the clean bedding etc. i have thought about ray deddicoat or wythall animal sanctuary.

Steph

Have you not thought of another dog to replace him? If not I'm sure that any pet rescue centre would be glad of his bedding. The only problem with that would be I wouldn't be able to get out of there without another dog.

You have my sympathy Steph. I had to hold two yorkies (on separate occsions) that belonged to my ex-wife when they were put to sleep. It is a very sad feeling

Good morning to you all, well what a surprise rain again today. I suppose we should have expected it after all the forecasters said it would be a nice day.

Just because today is a terrible day doesn't mean tomorrow won't be the best day of your life...You just have to get there.
