Phil, this may interest you,I went to Rottingdean on Friday to have a look at a new shop we are opening as an antique outlet, on approach I could see it was surrounded by fire engines,I thought the place had burnt down before we moved in, ha ha. Speaking to the fireman ,he said there was a building across the road in danger of collapse,I went over and spoke to a guy obviously a builder ,who said he had a phone call from his two lads to say the building was falling down. They had been removing two windows and as they removed them the building did a V shaped sag,I suspect they were inexperienced young men left to do the job on their own whilst he their gaffer was on another job. It's a school classroom,so good job it was being done in the holidays. The building is the white square one in the centre of photo and the windows which were removed are the same as the upper ones you can see.

John
I have seen this happen a lot in old buildings that have timber lintels. They often rot away and all that is left is the window frame holdong up the building. Though the building doesn't look that old so it should have had a concrete or metal lintel. Anyway if there is ever the slightest doubt and you can't see a concrete or metal lintel a needle support should always be used
Went to a lovely party and house blessing last night.Too late to get to the car boot extra early,as I got there down come the rain come down.Only bought 6 free range eggs LOL
