Mainly For Brummies But All Are Welcome To Join In The Birmingham Fun & Chat |
---|
Hi to all, my screen is Morning Star (Ken). Born in Sparkbrook in the early 50's. My mum's family worked in the Meat market or the factories producing all sorts of bits for all manner of things. I remember my mom being very proud of her work on bits for Concorde.
We lived in Oldfield road until the late 60's when we were moved to Sherlock street, then Kings Heath and the Maypole. I carried on moving South and ended up in Worcestershire. But still a proud Brummie.

Thank you all for the warm welcome .
A little more about my history and interests. Left education at 15 (Mount Pleasant Comp), Sparkhill boys and Clifton Road juniors and infants.Started work in the Newspaper and magazine industry and have been there ever since.
Soon found out that I should have paid more attention at school so enrolled at Night school to study Maths,English and Judo. The maths class ended after one week and the English the second week due to lack of numbers. The Judo carried on and after the night school ended I was accepted into the Dojo of the late great Bill Coffey at Ladywood community Centre and Aston manor school.
I played Rugby at IMI Kynoch at Witton for awhile .
Being in the Newspaper and magazine industry I joined the print Union SOGAT at 18 and been a Union member all but 3 years of my working life.
My interest are Angling,Current affairs and Politics.
Once again thank all for your warm welcome.

Hi pal what is your job in the magazine industry? being a member of Sogat it suggests that you are in the print production side. I was a member of SOGAT for many years. Starting at Wiggins Teape in 1976 (in the days of Brenda Dean). now after 40 years in the trade I am about to retire and hope fully find some sanity. Mind you knowing me that's not very likely.
I note your interests, i'm not sure about the Angling but hopefully you can stir up some conversations with the current affairs and politics. SB

I Work in distribution for the largest Newspaper and magazine supplier in the UK. I was also I.F.O.C and F.O.C but also the West Midlands Branch President when I was still a baby face. You can likely most tell from my screen handle what my political bend is.

Morning SB,
Imperial Father of the Chapel because I represented more than one Chapel in fact all the Chapels in the Midlands at regional and national level in our Trade section. It came about because of the nature of our jobs and the fast moving environment it's a long story set in the years leading up to the Wapping dispute and miners strike.
