It is rather interesting that the House of Lords recently got a bashing on this forum, just for existing, yet when they put the financial and constitutional future of this country into question they get a noisy thumbs up.
They are there to check and double check the laws of our land, not how my tax money is given away. Maybe they have just made a noose for their own over-privileged necks.
I totally agree with the comments that The House of Lords is an un-elected chamber. But I also am mindful of the fact that Th Commons is an elected chamber. What a Pigs Donger they have made of things over consecutive Governments.
I find the whole debate comical from start to finish. The start Gordon Brown introduces Working Tax credits 2010 cost 6 Billion to the taxpayers. That's everyone who pays tax unless you are a Non dom or you have a very smart account and tax lawyer. Fast forward to May 2015. Various Tory candidates including the present PM Our friend Dave Say "We will not cut Tax credits". So millions of families were conned. The bad news is that this Government is hell bent on finishing the job of helping working Class people in poverty and debt but the good news is the shares in pay day and loan companies are picking up after their loan rates were reduced 5000% to 1200%
So who really gained from this? Gordon Brown Lost the Election so his vote give away failed so he's in the wilderness. Liberals now can hold their Commons group meetings in a broom closet. Labour well they have got 4yrs and 6 months to sort out who they represent . But forgive me I've miss the really winners out all of this with the a 30 Billion pound Bonus all the companies who have failed to pass on the pay rises to workers .These are most likely the same companies who pay massive bonuses to their Directors .
