As much as I love trains and have done since I was able to walk, I can't see myself travelling at 1000 miles per hour.

If the new trains go at these speeds they would more than likely be driverless, A man couldn't think fast enough to react.

They will run in an airless tube. Idiot public won't get near them.
Having nothing to crash into will negate the need for emergency response.
Oxygen in a breakdown might be a bit of a problem though, which is why I see them as a means of sending goods in the same way as department stores used to send cash around the building.
