Italian Car Ferry Fire

An Italian car ferry that caught fire on Sunday 28th December, after leaving the Greek port of Patras, has finally been evacuated of over 400 passengers.

Death toll rises to 10 as evacuation ends

In the case of this ferry I think it was too small.
There was nowhere to run and the fire was cars and fuel burning in open, non compartmented decks.

Imagine a fire on a massive cruise ship…. Plenty of room to escape into, decks are divided up by steel plate and fire doors.
If I was going to be in trouble at sea I would much rather be on a serious purpose built cruise ship.
