An aircraft engine catches fire mid flight and FlyBe say ..."At no time was the safety and well-being of passengers compromised."
I don't really want to argue with an idiot but I think a plane with a burning engine is inherently much less safe than the same plane before the engine caught fire.

Good job they don't usually have a Christmas tree on a plane.

Flying is fine, it's the security and cattle herding that surrounds air travel that spoils it.

having spent most of my working life flying around asia and backwards and forwards to the uk, I quite enjoy flying, the long haul is the worst, I can only do the uk if I have a two day stop in singapore or hong kong, 21 hrs in one hit is a too much, maybe first class or even business class is ok, but never in cattle class, my first flight was london to paris, twin prop in 1969, since then I have only had one flight delayed by fog would you beleive mid summer in melbourne, one breakdown for 8 hrs in Hawaii, never missed a flight by being late, and only one weird experience that being just left singapore on an jumbo, around 1000 ft or so an alarm came on, voice says , we have a problem, pull down your mask and breath, well no masks came down, people starting to find a way to get them, idiots, the guy beside me says we going to die, i said mate listen, can u hear 4 engines at full throttle?, are we still going up? if there was a big problem we would not be going higher, low levels we dont need the oxygen, just relax, turned out it was a computer error, flying is very safe, better odds than driving your car, steer clear of the USA, and russia and you should be fine.

Its a good job both engines didn't fail. They would have been up there all day.
