Police Station Front Desks To Close

#1 by astoness , Thu Dec 04, 2014 4:38 pm

this is good...our police commissioner promised a few months back to keep open the front desks of police stations in castle vale...erdington and kingstanding ...turn about face now as he is closing them all leaving the erdington constituency without one single police station open to the public...all this on top of a proposed spend of £33 million on refurbishing the police commissioners posh city centre office...i give up..

This has been on the cards for years.
Never mind front desks, stations will close. We were told that at committees two years ago.

Same over here in telford ,closing lots of things, public toilets for one, moved the library into a smaller place ,it;s now in the new leisure center a good walk for elderly ,it use to be in a purpose built place and a bus stop right outside, easy for people to get to ,not any more so it's not being used as much ,so I can see it closing in the next 12 months ,it's happening all over telford.

This of course is on top of experienced officers being retired early. This Government is totally to blame.

The whole funding situation is totally out of control. mind you all is not lost a £2BN tunnel is being built to take traffic away from Stonehenge. That's ok then.

We are also in the process of building two aircraft carriers at a cost of 6.2 billion pounds. Is there ever a good time.

What happens if you have to take in lost property or produce driving documents?

Lost property you send in by email. Documents you show them over the phone. Obvious.

That is most likely what they were thinking.

As I understand it, peripheral tasks will not be carried out, so they presumably won't accept lost property and, as you can'r present documents at the station because it isn't there, you will automatically be prosecuted if you don't have them with you when you are stopped. Of course the chief constable will still wear an expensively flamboyant uniform and be driven by a chauffeur in a large car.

Slightly off-topic, but the one thing I found a bit off at the Memorial Arboretum was that the site was almost entirely devoted to those who died in the war or in one the the country's essential services, except for a line of memorials devoted to the High Sheriffs, who, similarly to the police commissioners, are a parasitic group who dress up in their plumes and are of little use anyone
