There is a wealth of information on the internet with regard to the history of the railways and the regional companies that built and operated them.
The Midlands was well covered by many regionals and had a great number of stations and goods yards.
The details of many of these stations can be found here …. http://www.warwickshirerailways.com/misc/stations.htm
The regions are also detailed on the same website.
Perhaps some of us have memories of the railways that we would like to share?

There were some dirty hard jobs on the railways in those days mate. My Granddad was Head Shunter at Saltley Gas works.
I remember trainspotting there in the 1960s the amount of trains and the length of the trains coming in all day was staggering.

Mike, The image won't load in the page but the attachment link below the post works for me, it is hosted on the forum server so there shouldn't be a problem with it.
It's a load of rubbish anyway, barely readable. The gist is something that SB goes on about with the weight of goods wagon trains and hardly any brakes.
