My Wales Holiday

#1 by astoness , Mon Apr 28, 2014 4:13 pm

hello folks...well despite the odd sharp showers i had a wonderful time in wales...dont really know how we managed to pack such a lot into 3 days...managed to fulfil 2 things ive wanted to do for years now..the first on was on the way there. to pay my respects i visited the site of the school where the aberfan disaster took place with such a massive loss to young life..its now a wonderful peace garden...got and out about a lot and also visited a little museum in porthcawl and was amazed to find in 2 tanks of water 2 cannons dating from about 1750 that had been found by walkers on the nearby beach...the recent storms were that strong that about 18 inches of sand was washed away making the cannons just visible.. also nearby 3 coins dated 1749 were found..work is ongoing to try and date the cannons exactly but they are pretty sure they are english so when they have been cleaned up the markings and maritime records may tell what ship they came off...on the way back today took a small detour to do something i have wanted to do for about 30 years now but never got round to it..went to pontypridd and stood outside the house where tom jones was born and raised...i knew the street name but could not remember the number so i knocked on someones door[Little LOL]..such a lovely lady at no 14 told me the number and even had time to chat and tell me that toms cousin has passed away last week and that some of rellies still lived in the next street..this was the icing on the cake for me...i have taken a few piccies of the trip so i will post a few when i have time...

I went to the Doctors once, I felt really ill. He said I had Tom Jones Syndrome. When I asked if it was rare, He said no" it's not unusual."
