this building was once an important part of birminghams transport system and for over 30 years was home to aston manor transport museum...until the council decided to throw them out a couple of years back and sell the building..we tried to save the museum and even held a protest but that failed...yesterday i happened to pass it and noticed the side door was open so went in and asked if i could take a few photos of the work that is now going on...i am absolutely disgusted at what was i saw inside..the building is now grade listed so only so much can be done to alter the building..before i post yesterdays photos a few of what is used to look like as a museum..

and now yesterdays photos which trust me gives me no pleasure at all to post...make the most of them as this will be the last time we see the old cobbles and tram tracks which are now protected with a false floor and also the walls are being plaster boarded..stage has been built at the far end of the building..just my opinion but if we are to preserve our history and heritage buildings then they should be on show for us and future gengerations to admire not covered up as if we are ashamed of it....it was also confirmed to me yesterday that as we thought a couple of years back this building is now an indian wedding venue....WELL DONE BIRMINGHAM CITY COUNCIL YOU HAVE ONCE AGAIN LET OUR CITY DOWN..

sorry this is the last one...what a pity the coucil could not see their way clear to gift this building to the museum considering the billions of pounds it spends on building rubbish it would have been a drop in the ocean for them..the museum have now found a new home over in aldridge and all the old vehicles are at least safe but the old tram shed was a perfect home for a transport museum and to my mind should have stayed there..

I totally agree Lyn. But with the council being so skint it's the perfect time for them to clear out loads of old buildings, I'm sure there are more to come.
