jo like SB said put a bird feeder up that will attract only the small birds..

forget that jo..ive just seen a wood pigeon hanging from me feeder...so what do i know

We had a Wood Pigeon who would land very heavily on the top of the feeder, which was hanging from the washing line, then he would fall to the ground to collect whatever he had managed to shake out of the feeder.
I think he learnt this trick from a squirrel.

Last summer we had a magpie that got bread, dropped it in the birdbath for a few seconds then took it out and flew off, I think it was feeding young so they made it soft for them, they are not dumb animals.

Don't bother Jo. I bought some bird seed once. I scattered it around the garden and not one bird came up.

We use to have a squirrel last year but someone run him over, were not far from a busy road, this one use to pinch small fat balls, take them somewhere ,never found them ,so he hid them well.

While having coffee, saw 3 sparrow hawks circling really high up, last year one had a baby blackbird, by the time I got out it was too late he flew off holding it.
