The point about this law is that it affirms the fact that you can say and write what you think, so long as you believe it and it is true or doesn't cause anyone serious harm then the person you are talking about can't get rich from it.
Obviously pure venom pointed at someone specific is uncalled for, especially here as we are all such jolly nice folks and wouldn't dream of hurting someone else's feelings. Would we?
