meant to say 3 pics jo not 2....there seems to be some sort of large water tank of some kind in this one..any idea what it was?? the little shop to the right of the villa cross is still there..alas the picture house went in the 70s..i do have pics of the demo of it

Brilliant pic's lyn .The water tank is like two we had up our street they were water tanks for the fire brigade to use in the war,if the mains were hit .

Our local picture house when we were kids was the Tivoli (where Tesco's is at the Swan) Yardley.
Used to love Flash Gordon and the Westerns. We all used to cheers when the goodies turned up.

My local cinema was the Pelham. I remember seeing Summer holiday there, that was in the times when the woman came round with her tray selling goodies. There used to be a cinema where the Sea Queen shops are I think it was called the castle but unsure never went in there. Thinking about it I don't remember seeing it, but it was there once.

Another old flea pit I remember was the Kingston, next to the Blues Ground. I saw A Hard Day's Night there.

i played bingo in there lynne not long before it was demolished..must have been in the middle 80s i think..

I think the picture house at the Pelham was called the Capital another we used was at Alum Rock. both on the 55 bus route.
