I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

I can't see how anyone could think otherwise. though I, personally have doubts whether the same applies to cats. nothing against cats , Lyn, just that I don't think they have the same affection , usually , as dogs

Mike Cats love affection, they will usually claw your face and other things off to get it.

I agree, but with many you could have never seen them before, but they will respond immediately to fondling, and when you stop they go away, and can well ignore you the next time you see them. Come to think about it, they are a bit like politicians

I know what you mean Jo, sometimes we forget how loyal and affectionate a dog can be.
I would love to have another one now but being out at work we just couldn't do it.

Hi SB its true when people say a dog is a mans best friend,we wont be having another one ,i am 74 and my wifes got problems with her back .If i was younger i would have one tomorrow, but its not going to happen .Plus as you say, the cost, especially vets fees, you never see a vet riding a bike.

Re the cats versus dogs debate, cats can seem aloof when it suits them but when they demand fuss it has to be given. They are smarter than dogs and know when enough is enough.

Also not to be forgotten
Dogs have owners
Cats have servants

You are no one until you have been owned by a cat.

You also never know what it is to be ignored until a cat has turned his back on you.

I know what it is like to have catty people turn their back on you - a sense that you can ignore them happily with no feeling of regret

Good evening Micky you are dead right. We lost our dog Rosie two or three years ago. She was a great friend and still brings a lump to my throat when I see a picture of her. She was eighteen and a half years old when we lost her.
