Tks, Lyn, Mikegee & Phil for all those photos, I thought I knew the area well but its seems there have been a few changes, Lyn that one on the corner of Ford street is a classic, had you noticed the Blue Police Box on the corner but not on Mikegee's one?. Tks again, Norman
Tks Phil, That pub is one I will never forget, only used it once to meet a couple of school pals when I came home on leave, have past it when I was checking the district out after it had been rebuilt many years ago, not sure if it is still there. Norman
Phil, I am so sorry, I have just gone through the H.S.H & B site and spotted the last photo you put on re the Lamb Pub. Like all things in Brum. everything disappears, that pub had many memories for me, so sorry it has gone. My apologies again for the oversight. Norman
I have a couple of pics both with the caption St Georges Place Hockley they look completely different does anyone know if they both are or locations if not. Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)
The one with the church definitely is, with the camera about at the position of the arrow on the c 1889 map, but the map shows that there is no way that the other map could be, as there are 12 houses on the left in the photo (as on the photo), but houses across the bottom, where the church grounds would be if it were St Georges Place. The c1951 map shows similar houses.
