Longbridge Underground Tunnels

#1 by Voltman , Mon Aug 12, 2013 2:52 pm

These were dug in the thirties to house the wartime aircraft production at Austin.
They were in the news recently when the remains of a works Mini 1275 was recovered from a tunnel and sold at auction.

The entrances to the two main tunnels can currently be seen in this google view..

Does anyone have their own memories or photographs of these tunnels?
In the meantime here are some links to sites with more recent views of these tunnels.
