If you are talking about this building, well here is another piece of Birmingham history being allowed to crumble.

The building was erected for Coopers Cycles and was completed in 1903 (I think) By this time the cycle boom was over and I think Coopers sold the premises to the Birmingham Cooperative Society for their first warehouse. The Co op then started to manufacture some of their own goods there and I believe it even housed their own fire service at one time.

When the Co op started to slim down operations the building became empty and unused for years until a few years mysteriously there was a fire. As the building was listed it was cleaned out and made safe. The last I heard was the damage was too structural to consider renovation. So I suppose it is more building land for the University.

Yes Phil, that's the one.

I discovered it in some guy's blog last year, he takes photo's of places and provides a write-up about it.
At the moment I can't find his photo or the link to his blog.

hi folks...although i was never one for going to see live bands i have enjoyed reading this thread....just a quick question...was carl wayne the guy who married miss diane that was in crossroads or is my memory getting worse....
