I attended a police meeting some months ago, one of the things the police were introducing was single man cars. As so many officers are beng kicked out "to save money" it was too expensive to have two cops in a car. Our society which has so many imported "Lawless psychopaths" would you want your son or daughter having to cope with a situation like this?
I could save the police millions of pounds a year and cut a lot of crime as well. Get them out of the cars and back on the beat. I don't mean just a few token PCSO's. Get rid of all the cars except traffic cars.

That would be impossible, impractical and unsustainable
Phil I'll get back to you later on this one but I know from reports I have read this has already been looked into. Yes it was done years ago but that was a different world. With a much larger population plus todays violence and terror threat ( birminghams is the countrys highest by the way) so many more officers would be required its unaffordable labour will always cost more than vehicles.
Phil if someone was trying to get into your house with an axe ( which certainly is NOT impossible these days) you would want police there pretty damn quick.

i was just about to say that SB...the police take long enough as it is to get to call outs in cars so on foot or push bike we would never see them...not in this day and age anyway..keep the cars and get more out on foot..
If there were more police and no cars they would all be in whistle range and could respond immediately to each other, the sound of breaking glass, shouts of "Police", "stop thief" and "have you got the time mate?" I love the sound of breaking glass.

When was the last time you called the police and they came dashing out in a panda, what you usually get is a couple of half witted PCSO's a couple of days after you call.

When was the last time you made an emergency call Phil. I have been in a control room and seen cars despatched pretty quickly. Hold ups are usually caused by time wasters.

The last three times I called the police, twice at work and once at home I was screened out all three times as break-ins are too commonplace to respond to and not worth dispatching an officer to. In all three cases a couple of comedians in uniform called a couple of days later, in both cases they hadn't got a clue what they were doing.
