Birmingham City Council have approved savings of £69million in the next financial year. Up to 2000 jobs are at risk. The City employs 52,000 staff at present. The union UNISON have pledged to fight for every job. "Every redundancy is a personal tragedy".
If this was the best I could do. It wasn't good enough
The trouble is that you read so many differing stories about these job cuts in the papers. The last I read it was 5000 jobs over the next 10 years and they expected most of these would go by natural wastage.
Where the problems lie though, although it's called natural wastage. The Jobs dissapear. The question is are they real working jobs in the first place.?

Another good point, I have had a lot to do with Council employees over the years and I have always thought that every council I worked with was overstaffed. Another thing I found was that most council employees took their annual amount of no questions asked sick days as if they were a right and treated them like additional holidays.
