Well if the lump sum and pension was anything like my son who was only a fireman then I can't see what they are complaining about. Don't forget this practice has been carried out for yonks and it is not all down to this government. Anyway I'm sure it is better for them to get out now before this government really goes to town with our emergency services and starts making further inroads into their pensions, this is why my son retired after 30 years.
Forced retirement after thirty years is a Direct response to cuts by this Government. Our committee was informed of this before they came in, they were recommended by an efficieny company that was instilled nationwide.

It's part of the police pensions regulations 1987. It is being used now by this government to further it's own ends, but it has been used before by several forces and governments when they wanted to thin the forces out.
That's correct Phil but until the Austerity cuts came in, after thirty years service they were always able to continue after thirty years, subject to an annual review.
