Lorry turning into Hamstead Road and obscuring the pub on the corner…can't remember
the name of it now but it used to sell faggots and peas in the outdoor part round the corner

These houses are numbered, No.61, also called Watt Place,
was the home of the famous pen maker John Sheldon

That last picture shows the Palladium on the left and so must contain the James Watt Tavern on the right.
I don't remember the road looking like that.
The name of the cinema is showing through like a ghost sign…

Agreed Volty..only a guess but i would think The James Watt Tavern is just about where the bus is but pic too poor to really tell..
The pally is getting worse by the day…I'm down that way often and it is being used as a storage place at the min..
I can just about recall all around there looking like that as a youngster but I know lots of older folk whos memories are far better than mine...did you live round that way then ??

Brought back happy memories for me lyn ,use to have a flat in soho hill number 123 ,got married in st micheals church ,worked as a part time barman in the roebuck pub on the corner of hamstead road ,saving the deposit for our first house, many years ago late 60 s

We lived in Green Lane. When I was about three I took my wheelbarrow for a walk down the Soho Road.
A neighbour noticed me and took me back home. I wouldn't attempt that walk now.
